Tikvah Project

This is a wonderful tour program for all small groups - including Bar Mitzvah / Bat Mitzvah families - and also offers interactive, community service opportunities. However, it was first set up under the unique Tikvah Rehabilitation of Terror Victims Through Sport program.

About the Tikvah Project

Several thousand Israelis have been injured in terrorist attacks since 2000. Terrorist outrages maim 10 times more people than they kill, and thousands of Israeli families are faced with caring for a child incapacitated for life, or invalid parent or breadwinner, who can no longer support the family.

What the Tikvah Project Does

Grants of up to $2000 annually for 3 years, go towards physical and psychological rehabilitation of victims of terror, providing medically-approved and monitored sports/fitness programs with specially qualified coaches, licensed to assist injured or disabled people.

Applications to the Tikvah Project are reviewed by an experts committee in Israel, approving participants, who can select activities within a variety of special sports therapy programs.

The Tikvah Project covers fitmess room fees, equestrian courses (excellent for balance problems associated with bomb blast victims), swimming pool therapies, fitness equipment for monitored home use, yachting for the blind, and more...

Tikvah Project Responds to Real Need

Israel's official safety net does not cover course like these. Mass terrorist outrages often target buses carrying poorer people, and new immigrants - who do not own private cars. With median monthly income in Israel at around $1500, this type of rehabilitation is out of reach for most people affected by terror-related injuries, that usually result in the inability to work and lost income.
