Enroute

Today we leave from New York onboard our overnight flight to Israel.

Jerusalem

Upon our arrival to Jerusalem, we will be met and transferred to our hotel. In the evening visit the Kotel for Kabbalat Shabbat and then return to our hotel for a Cocktail Hour/Welcome Dinner including wine and beer.

Shabbat Shalom! This morning we’ll be visiting various parts of the city. We’ll explore the comprehensive Israel Museum, all the way to the Shrine of the Book which houses the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Afterwards we’ll enter the Old City via Jaffa Gate and visit the David Citadel Museum. We’ll then take a walking tour of the Old City, including the Kotel and the Southern Wall Excavations. If we have time we’ll do some shopping in the Arab Shuk.

In the evening we’ll return to the hotel to freshen up before heading to Dinner at a local Bar/Restaurant with Live Music. We’ll then return to our hotel for the evening.

Jerusalem

Today we’ll be touring the New City of Jerusalem. First we’ll visit Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial and Museum. Afterwards we’ll visit Mt. Herzl to see where some of Israel’s finest dignitaries are laid to rest. We’ll then drive past the Knesset and the Supreme Court and go back to the Old City to visit the Jewish Quarter. We’ll see the Herodian Mansion and visit the Davidson Center which brings the Temple Mount ruins to life. The balance of the day will be at leisure.

In the afternoon we’ll participate in the city’s many Purim celebrations and in evening enjoy a Purim party at a local hot spot.

Dead Sea / Massada

After breakfast we’ll head southwards to the Dead Sea. On the way we’ll stop in Qumran to see where the Dead Sea Scrolls were found by a Bedouin boy.

Next we’ll travel to the ancient oasis of Ein Gedi where we’ll take a hike to the famous waterfall Nahal David. We’ll then proceed to Massada where we’ll take a cable car ride up to the top of the vast Herodian palace complex which served as the site of the Zealots’ last stand against the Romans after the fall of Jerusalem in 70C.E.

From there we will continue to the Dead Sea for a dip in the buoyant waters. Next we’ll travel to Kfar Hanokdim in the Negev, where we’ll enjoy a guided Camel Ride in the desert and a Hafla or meal. In the evening we'll transfer to our hotel.

Ramon Crater

Dead Sea / Eilat

After breakfast, you may choose to spend your morning taking advantage of the hotel’s many Spa Treatments. In the early afternoon we’ll start our descent to Eilat and along the way visit Mitzpe Ramon, home of the largest of the Negev’s three craters. We will explore this spectacular site with an exciting Jeep Ride through the area. Afterwards we will proceed to our hotel in Eilat for check in and to freshen up.

The evening will be spent Cruising the Red Sea with Dinner and Dancing.

Petra, Jordan

Eilat / Petra Option

Today we will have the choice of an optional full day tour of Petra, Jordan (extra cost). We will be transferred to the Arava boarder, taken through passport control, and met on the Jordanian side by your transfer/guide.

Upon arrival in Petra, we will take a full tour of the excavations of this beautiful ancient city.

For those spending the day in Eilat, we may choose to spend our time at the pool/beach or take advantage of the various water activities such as scuba diving/snorkeling in the beautiful waters or visiting the Underwater Observatory.

Tonight enjoy Dinner at a Local Restaurant followed by Drinks at one of the area’s Hot Spots.

Eilat / Tel Aviv

After breakfast, we’ll start our trip back north to Tel Aviv. First we’ll stop at Sde Boker, the home and final resting place of David Ben Gurion. Here we will hear of his dream to turn the desert into a vast greenland filled with vegetation.

Afterwards we’ll proceed to the northeast region of the Negev Desert and enjoy a wine and cheese tasting at Ramat Arad, part of the Carmel Winery. We’ll then continue to Givot Bar, one of JNF’s projects. Here we will learn how this pioneer community is working on Ben Gurion’s dream of turning the desert green.

Finally, we’ll travel to Tel Aviv where we’ll check into our hotel. In the evening we’ll enjoy Dinner and Dancing at the Tel Aviv Port.

Day 9

Tel Aviv

Today we’ll we exploring Israel’s social and cultural center, Tel Aviv. We’ll enjoy a walking tour of this bustling city in the morning, highlighting famous sites the quaint neighborhood of Neve Tzedek and the enormous market Nachalat Binyamin. We’ll also walk through Tel Aviv’s Soho, Shenkin Street. We’ll then travel down Rothschild Boulevard to see some of the best examples of Bauhaus Architecture, which was all but destroyed in the bombing of Germany during WWII. The balance of the day will be at leisure.

In the evening we’ll enjoy a traditional Shabbat Dinner together in our hotel.

Tel Aviv

Shabbat Shalom! Enjoy your last day in Israel at leisure to do whatever you like. Consider meeting family or friends in Israel, visit the Tel Aviv Modern Art Museum, or walk along the promenade to old Jaffa.

At 5:00pm we will check out of our hotel and then enjoy a Farewell Dinner at Maganda Restaurant.

From there we’ll transfer to the airport for our return flight home.
