Day 1 New York-Palermo Today you depart for Rome on your overnight flight, complete with onboard meals and refreshments. A fast connecting flight will bring you to Palermo.

Day 2Palermo Your tour escort will meet you upon arrival at the Palermo airport and will help you transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon you will discover the city, as ancient as Rome and immensely rich in history and mysterious charm. In the evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner at the hotel. Overnight Palermo. |

Day 3Palermo After breakfast, you will start your escorted city tour including a visit to the Cathedral, the Norman Palace with the Palatine Chapel, San Giovanni of the Hermits, and Monreale with its exquisite Cathedral and Cloister. In the afternoon you will enjoy free time for shopping. Overnight Palermo. |

Day 4Palermo / Agrigento Once you have finished breakfast, you will leave Palermo and after traveling through the rugged Sicilian countryside, you will arrive in Agrigento. In the afternoon you will visit the unique Valley of the Temples. Some of the best-preserved Greek Temples are actually in Sicily, such as the Temple of Juno and the Temple of Hercules. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Agrigento. |

Day 5 Agrigento / Piazza Armerina / Taormina After breakfast you will travel by bus to Piazza Armerina. This excursion will take a spectacular road through the center of Sicily. Near the town stand the majestic ruins of the Roman villa Casale (3rd-4th c C.E.), which is famous for its splendid floor mosaic. After this visit, you will continue to the east coast of the island to Taormina. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Toarmina. |

Day 6 Taormina After breakfast you will take a tour of historically rich Taormina. You will visit the Greco-Roman Amphitheater which sits on a hill with a marvelous view of the Mediterranean Sea on one side and snow capped Mount Etna on the other. The rest of the day is yours for leisurely exploration of the town or relaxation around the hotel pool. Dinner and overnight in your hotel in Taormina. |

Day 7 Toarmina / Amalfi / Sorrento After breakfast you will travel by bus along the Sicilian coastline to Messina. You will cross by ferry the straight celebrated by Homer in his epic The Odyssey and you will land in hearty Calabria, the toe of the Italian peninsula. You will continue your spectacular ride along a very modern highway with a breath-taking view of the western coastline to the historically rich Amalfi. This centuries old maritime republic was a major power in the Mediterranean in the XI century. You will visit its Cathedral, which stands atop of a spectacular flight of steps. You’ll also see the Bell Tower and the famous Cloister of Paradise which show clear signs of Moorish influence. During a short ride along the well-known Amalfi Drive, you will admire the city of Positano before arriving in Sorrento. Some of you may decide to visit Cava dei Tirreni; the bus will be at your disposal. Dinner and overnight at your hotel in Sorrento. |

Day 8 Sorrento / Pompei / Rome After breakfast you start your journey. You will see Mount Vesuvio, the volcano dominating the Bay of Naples, just before arriving in Pompei. You will have the unique experience of roaming in the streets of the archeological treasure. The excavations have brought back to us the daily life of Roman times, frozen for almost two thousand years under a thick layer of volcanic ash. After this, you will continue north towards Rome. Along the route you will be able to see famous WWII battlefields like Montecassino. After checking into your hotel, you will have time in the evening to stroll about the eternal city. Overnight in Rome. |

Day 9 Rome After your breakfast you will start this special day in the Eternal City. Your guided tour will lead you through Rome’s Ruins, the Trevi Fountain, Piazza Venezia, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona. Next you will visit St. Peter’s Basilica and admire the Pietà by Michelangelo. At noon, if the Pope is in Rome, you can stay in St. Peter’s Square for the Papal Blessing. Overnight in Rome. |

Day 10 Rome Free day for last minute shopping, packing and sight-seeing. Be sure to see the Sistine Chapel. Your Italian adventure will finish with a memorable dinner at one of the best traditional Roman restaurants with music and singing. Overnight in Rome. |
Day 11 Rome / New York After breakfast you will be escorted to Rome airport for your flight home which includes meals and refreshments. |
