Ah, Jerusalem! A New Musical (in English)

Jerusalem for 25 years composer-lyricist Danny Paller imagined a new entertainment for English-speaking tourists – a musical-theater adventure set in Jerusalem. He felt there were too few cultural offerings geared to a tourist’s experience – especially for English-speakers – and that a musical would provide a refreshingly creative encounter with the city and its unique past. He found the perfect partner for the project – Bernie Kukoff, whose career included producing and writing for television and film (“The Cosby Show”, “Diff’rent Strokes”), producing five Broadway and off-Broadway musicals (among them I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change, which played for 12 years in New York, the second longest-running musical in off-Broadway history), and most recently, producing an original play in Tel Aviv (Glow).
Kukoff headed the script writing team, which wrote the story of a family’s unusual journey through Jerusalem. Paller added an original score, a talented local team of designers and actors was assembled, and in spring 2013 a new local attraction was born – AH, JERUSALEM!
