The country of Israel lies on the eastern shores of the Mediterranean Sea, yet still few people consider it a top vacation spot. While many people think of Israel in the religious context, this historical country, with its rich culture, vivid nightlife and an outstanding abundance of natural wonders, has a myriad of other enchanting experiences to offer. It is a real gem of the Mediterranean Sea, and now it is time to appreciate this fine jewel for its true virtues.

Israel has many things to offer to all kinds of visitors. The country has a rich religious background, and if you are only interested in the time-honored religious and cultural aspect of the country you will definitely have a meaningful and spiritually satisfying time. But, there is also a lot to offer to those who want the full Israel experience outside of its religious context.

tel-aviv-night Tel Aviv at night

First off, the cosmopolitan city of Tel Aviv is a vivid experience for all ages, with its fine museums, great restaurants and vibrant nightlife, the second largest city of Israel captures the imaginations of all travelers. It is also a little known fact that Tel Aviv also features many architectural treasures, such as the Bauhaus buildings and the ancient city of Jaffa, adding yet another face to this true twenty first century metropolis. Besides, who would not want to spend a day at one of the numerous beaches, bathing in the sun with an occasional cool sea breeze?

The real adventure begins when you step out of the lively city scene of Tel Aviv. Israel has a vast myriad of natural wonders to share, and in return it only asks for an open heart and adventurous spirit. The barren Negev Desert is one of those sights that you would not believe how beautiful it can be – it is easy to understand why this area inspired so many religious visionaries. If you are a fan of modern sports the desert is also a must destination, offering plenty of wonderful hiking, biking and rock climbing opportunities.

If reading about all these activities makes you hungry, worry not, Israel is known for its delicious cuisine. The Land of Israel Fam Trip March 2008 871Milk and Honey offers a mouthwatering selection of local specialties. As the country lies at a geographic crossroad, its cuisine mirrors this mélange of cultures. From the exotic Turkish, Arab, and Israeli food to the trendy international restaurants, visiting Tel Aviv can be real culinary adventure. Israel is also big on pastries and hearty breakfasts, which many hotels offer so that you will never leave to start your day on an empty stomach.

If you are a history aficionado, it is difficult to find a more historic program than taking a walk on the streets of Jerusalem, where every wall, balcony and street corner could tell a thousand tales and usually more! From Biblical times to the modern era, the Promised Land seems to always find itself in the middle of the historical whirlwind. Embark on an archeological journey and discover the ancient Roman ruins of Caesarea, the famous Western Wall of Jerusalem or the fortress of Masada by the Dead Sea. There is no need to go big with touristy sights, as the saying goes, throw a stone, and it will most definitely land somewhere with historic significance!

Israel is an unparalleled adventure that you will want to share with friends and family. Whether you visit the major cities of Tel Aviv and Jerusalem or seek the riches of the natural wonderland of Israel, be prepared for an awe-inspiring experience what you will remember for many years to come.
