Arrival Cairo International Airport

As soon as you arrive the adventure begins. You’ll be met by our Egyptian ground colleagues at Cairo Airport and taken to your luxury hotel, the new Nile Ritz Carlton. You will be steps away from the Egyptian Museum, Tahrir Square and the highlights of Cairo. Meet your Egyptologist who will provide some details about the exciting things you’ll be doing and seeing. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure for a little rest and recovery. Discover the delights of Cairo, the chaos and contrasts of a bustling metropolis awashed in sandy colors. Enjoy your first Egyptian meal at the Ritz Carlton.

This morning begins your introduction to Egypt and its history, with no better starting point than the Egyptian Museum, a short walk from your hotel. Today’s touring will also include the Citadel of Saladin and the mosque of Mohamed Ali. After lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll see the Coptic quarter of Cairo for a deeper understanding of this minority community and also the Ben Ezra synagogue, located near the Coptic church. This evening, lose yourself in the colors and Aromas of the Khan al-Khalili Bazaar as you shop for local treasures in this special marketplace. You’ll end this exciting first day with a delicious dinner in a local restaurant.

This is a special day in your Egypt tour- you get to see perhaps the most awaited and exciting site and one of the ancient wonders of the world - Giza’s Pyramids. It’s a one in a lifetime experience even more powerful live and up close than you could ever imagine! You depart your hotel driving through the metropolis of Cairo to Giza. Once there you’ll spend some time in and around the Pyramids of GIza and Sakkar and visit the elusive Sphinx too. You’ll have dinner tonight at your hotel with time to think and dream about today’s experience.

Flight to the south/Abu Simbel and Aswan

Rise and shine this morning and head to the airport for your short flight to Abu Simbel. You will have the opportunity to explore this amazing site, with temples dating to the 13th century B.C. Following Abu Simbel, you’ll take another short flight to Aswan, where you board your luxury cruise ship and experience Egypt by water. The M.S. Mayfair is pure luxury and will serve as your base for the next three nights. Wonderful cuisine, spacious guest rooms, spa facilities and more await your enjoyment.

Edfu on the Nile cruise

Following a sumptuous breakfast buffet as you cruise along the Nile, you’ll reach Philea, an island in the lower Aswan Dam region. After touring Philea, you return to your ship and continue sailing to the Temple of Kom Ombo, from the 2nd century B.C. The carvings on the columns depict life in ancient Egypt and the state of preservation and remaining colors are truly something to behold. Following a lunch back on your ship, you continuing sailing to Edfu, where you disembark to visit the impressive Temple of Edfu. After touring, return to your ship to enjoy the rest of the evening.

Today is a treat among visual treats, as your cruise takes you to Luxor and the Valley of the Kings. A day of magnificent temples that are wonderfully preserved. You’ll feel the magnitude of the Egyptian kings and gods as you see temples adorned by intact statues towering over you. In the evening visit Karnak and continue revelling in the beauty of Egypt’s many temples. Dinner will be on your ship at Luxor.

This morning you leave your ship after breakfast and head to the airport for your short flight back to Cairo. You’ll spend your last evening at a lovely hotel in Giza near the airport. BId farewell to this special country with a “Farewell Dinner” at your hotel.

Farewell, Egypt

This morning you will be taken to the airport for your departure flight from Egypt.
Day 1 -

WELCOME TO EGYPT! Upon arrival at Cairo International Airport you will be met, assisted through Immigration & Customs, then escorted to your selected hotel.

Day 2 -

Today’s sightseeing takes you to the fabulous Egyptian Museum. Regarded as one of the most prominent in the world, it offers visitors remarkable insights into Egypt’s ancient history dating back 5000 years. The priceless antiquities include King Tut’s Treasures — a spectacle beyond belief! We also visit Cheops Pyramid one of the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World and the Sphinx, the great god-lion sentinel, built over 35 centuries ago. (B, L)

Day 3 -
Cairo | Abu Simbel | Aswan

Early morning we fly south to Aswan (Abu Simbel excursion is optional and highly recommended). Meet and assist. Transfer to selected cruise ship, your floating hotel for the next three nights. After lunch we sail around Elephantine Island and the Botanical Gardens. (L, D)

Day 4 -
Aswan | Kom Ombo | Edfu

Morning visits include Aswan’s High Dam; the Granite Quarries and the Temple of Philae. Sail to Kom Ombo where you visit the Temple of Sobek with its beautiful murals and exceptional view of the River Nile. Continue on to Edfu for overnight. Tonight a very special costume party “Native Egyptian and Pharaonic style.” (B, L, D)

Day 5 -
Edfu | Luxor

Today you visit Edfu’s Temple of Horus (237 B.C.), the Falcon God. Continue sailing to Luxor for overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 6 -
Luxor | Cairo

Disembark. This morning you cross the Nile to “Thebes” Luxor’s West Bank. Sightseeing includes the Valley of Kings and Queens where some 64 of Egypt’s Pharaohs had their palatial resting places hewed into the sheer rock; and the Colossi of Memnon. After lunch, visit Luxor and Karnak Temples, a holy city of pylons, hypostyle halls, colossal statues, shrines and obelisks built over centuries and dedicated to the God Amon-Ra, his consort Mut, and their son Khonsu. Transfer to Luxor Airport for your return flight back to Cairo. Transfer to hotel. (B)

Day 7 -

Transfer to Airport. Fly back home or take one of our extensions. (B)
