Welcome to Cuba! There will be a group transfer from José Martí Airport to our hotel, the Meliá Cohiba. Those arriving at a different time will need to take a private transfer. You will have time to check in and relax before dinner.
Our welcome dinner will be at a privately-owned restaurant, or Paladar, as Cubans call them.

Old Havana City Tour

This morning we will go on a walking tour of Old Havana and its four squares: Plaza de la Catedral, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco and Plaza Vieja. We’ll learn about the country’s history while walking on Havana’s cobblestone streets and visiting 18th century buildings.
Lunch will be at a Paladar
In the afternoon, we will proceed to the National Museum of Fine Arts, which houses Cuban artifacts from colonial times to contemporary generations. Our visit will be guided by one of the Museum’s scholars.
Return to the hotel to relax and freshen up. In the evening we will drive to a Paladar for dinner.

Cigar Tasting–San José Market-Tropicana

We will drive to Old Havana for a tasting of Cuba’s best cigars and rum. We’ll see how a cigar is rolled and learn about the entire production process from the farm to the store.
Next, we will go to the San José Market, the largest arts and craft marketplace in Havana.
We will have lunch at a Paladar before enjoying a ride on a vintage car to El Morro Castle for a panoramic view of the city.
In the evening, we will go to another Paladar for dinner and then proceed to the famous Tropicana Club, the world-renowned cabaret which opened in 1939. After this unique show, we will return to the hotel.

Hemingway Tour – Shabbat Services

This morning will be dedicated to Ernst Hemingway. We will go to Hotel Ambos Mundos (Hemingway’s first home in Cuba), La Floridita (the bar he used to visit), and Finca Vigia (the house he bought with his wife in 1939 and that is now a museum).
After lunch we will return to the hotel to freshen up before Kabbalat Shabbat.
In the evening we will go Patronato Synagogue. The Patronato features a full library, with an impressive collection of Jewish books and is a popular source of reference and education for Jews throughout Cuba. We will stay for Kabbalat Shabbat services, followed by Kiddush and Shabbat dinner with the Jewish Community.

Shabbat Services – Fusterland

This morning we will attend Shabbat services at the Sephardic Hebrew Center, the only Sephardic synagogue in Havana City. We will also tour their Holocaust memorial and stay for Kiddush and lunch with members of the local community.
In the afternoon we will proceed to Fusterland, a neighborhood of colorful mosaics and painted homes funded by Jose Fuster, an artist from the neighborhood who has found success out of Cuba with his artwork.
We will return to the hotel and then continue to dinner and our farewell outing to La Fabrica de Arte (The Art Factory). This place combines an art gallery with a night club and live performances.
