1

Welcome to Japan

Upon arrival to the airport in Tokyo, you will be met by a True Japan Tour representative and transfer to the hotel in central part of Tokyo. After the arrival to the hotel, enjoy the rest of your evening at leisure.

Tokyo Full Day Tour

The day begins with a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine, established in 1920. This is the most popular shrine in Japan for hatsumode, the year’s first visit to a shrine or temple to pray for good fortune in the year ahead. You will continue to Harajuku, Takeshita-dori street, Omotesanda street and find stylish items, fashion buildings, galleries, gourmet food and art. Next, a visit to Roppongi to enjoy the sweeping view of Tokyo from the Tokyo City View Observatory. Your day continues with a visit to Asakusa, known as Tokyo’s Old Downtown and visit Senso-ji Temple, known as the oldest Buddhist temple in Tokyo. The day concludes with shopping on Nakamise street.

Tokyo Cultural Experience Tour

The day begins with a visit to Tsukiji Outer Market, the biggest food market in Japan before having a private sushi making and sushi party followed by a kimono wearing and Japanese tea ceremony where you will be greeted by a kimono specialist. Ladies will be dressed in kimonos with a color-style of your choosing, and men will also wear traditional garb. A Tea master will then teach you how you make traditional tea and explain the meaning and history behind this form of Japanese art.

Tour of Mt. Fuji

Your day will begin with a ride through to the area called Yamanashi, known as the home of Mt.Fuji. Along the drive you will enjoy the panoramic view of Japan Alps Mountain Range from the observatory. Then, after a stroll on the Ochudo trail, take a bus to Lake Kawaguchi downtown. There you will enjoy Kawaguchiko Natural Living Center located right in front of Lake Kawaguchi with a stunning view of Mt. Fuji. Lastly, you will get to view a stunning Kimono collection at the Kubota Itchiku Art Museum. This night, you will enjoy the experience of staying at a Japanese style Onsen hotel.

Mt. Fuji to Takayama

Begin your day with a bus ride through Nagano and the Japanese Alps on your way to Takayama. Visit Matsumoto jo, one of Japan’s most beautiful original castles. After marveling at the castle’s architecture, enjoy lunch before completing the drive. First, you’ll visit Takayama Jinya, a local governor’s office during the Edo period. The present building complex is called “Jinya” that includes residential space and storehouses for rice paid as tax.
After enjoying your visit to Takayama Jinya, enjoy a walk through the old town lined with hundreds of old houses & shops. Dinner will be at the hotel as will an opportunity to try Japanese-style hot spring baths before retiring for the evening.

Takayama-Shirakawago-Kanazawa

Visit Shirakawago. Located in a mountainous region that was cut off from the rest of the world for many years preserving its architecture and way of life. The large houses with their steeply pitched thatched roofs are the
only examples of their kind in Japan. Next, explore Kanazawa which, during World War Two, was Japan's second largest city (after Kyoto) to escape destruction by air raids. After arriving to Kanazawa, you will tour The 21st century Museum of Contemporary Art. The tour will be followed by a visit to Higashi Chayagai District, known as the historical area with a preserved look and feel of 18-19th century Japan, when Samurai dominated the area.

Kanazawa

Today the group will explore Kanazawa. You will start off at the Omicho Market where you can try local fresh seafood, a city specialty. Next, transfer to Kenrokuen Garden, known as one of Japan's "three best landscape gardens" and by many considered the most beautiful of them all. On to the Kanazawa castle ruin where one of the most powerful Samurai once sat. Following the castle, you will be guided to Myoryuji Temple, also known as the Ninja Temple. The construction of this temple made it Ninja-proof so it could be defended against the enemy.

Kanazawa to Kyoto

This day will start with an express train to Kyoto, which has a 1200 year-long history. There you will be escorted by a guide through the city to locations such as Sanjusangendo temple. The main hall of Sanjusangendo contains 1,001 wooden statues of Juichimen- Senju- Kannon. Your next stop is to Kiyomizu Temple, a designated UNESCO World Heritage site with over 30 structures, including a huge wooden veranda in front of the main hall that juts out over the cliff and provides you a panoramic view of Kyoto. After Kiyomizu temple, you will walk down a famous slope called Ninen-zaka & Sannen-zaka, lined with souvenir shops, dropping you off at the Gion Area, known as home of Geisha.

Kyoto Highlight Tour

Your first stop of the day is to Kinkakuji, a Zen temple in northern Kyoto whose top two floors are completely covered in gold leaf. After enjoying your visit to Kinkakuji, you will visit Ryoanji Temple belonging to the Rinzai school of Zen Buddhism. Its biggest attraction is the world famous dry landscape garden. This rock garden, surrounded by low earthen walls, may be thought of as the quintessence of Zen art, and it is acknowledged to be one of the masterpieces of Japanese culture. Next you will be taken to Nijo Castle built in 1603 for the first shogun of the Edo Period and now a UNESCO world heritage site. Finish the day with a visit to Nishiki Market. Known as “Kyoto’s Kitchen.”

Kyoto to Airport

You have this morning to spend as you wish until your airport transfer from Kyoto to Osaka (Kansai Airport). Upon arrival at Kansai Airport, a guide will show the group to the airline’s check in counter for departure.
