Day Trip Options in Israel

Day Trip Options in Israel

Whether you want to see a new place in Israel every day, or there are a few specific sites you wish to explore, daily tours allow you the complete freedom to choose and customize your Israel adventure, creating the vacation you truly want. In addition to that, you get to meet new people every day, while enjoying yourself, learning, and becoming richer by an experience with each step. There is a myriad of superb day trip options to choose from while in Israel, and we’ll highlight just a few here.

Jerusalem Day Tour

It is well-known that Jerusalem is an absolute must-see while in Israel. There is nothing like it in the whole world. During a day tour of this memorable place, you’ll get to see the famous Old City and millennia of history housed there. You’ll walk through the Cardo, the ancient Roman road, see the Jewish and Christian quarters, and the Temple Mount. After that, take a walk along the Via Dolorosa and the Bazaar, visit the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, then go to the Mount of Olives. Other sites you get to see include King David’s Tomb and the Room of the Last Supper on Mt. Zion, the Church of All Nations, the Garden Tomb and much, much more.

Bethlehem and Jericho Day Tour

Here’s another tour you can’t go wrong with. What better way to spend your day than take an amazing ride from Jerusalem through the Judean desert and enjoy the most beautiful of panoramic views once you reach the sea level? Soon after that, you’ll be in Jericho, one of the oldest cities in the world, whose famous sites will warmly welcome you, such as Zacchaeus’ Sycamore tree, Mt. of Temptation, and the brilliant Tel Jericho where twenty-five ancient cities were uncovered. After that, you get to see Bethlehem, the very birthplace of Jesus. While there, you’ll see the Manger Square, the Church of the Nativity, the Church of Milk Grotto, and the Shepherd’s Field Chapel.

Galilee Day Tour

If you wish to take an exciting tour of Northern Israel’s mountainous area, home to wonderful scenery and most fascinating wildlife, towards Biblical sites in Galilee, then we’ve got just the thing for you! In a single day, you’ll see four famous places: Nazareth, Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, and the Jordan River. In the city of Jesus’s childhood, you’ll visit the beautiful Old City with its markets, and go to the Church of St. Joseph and the Basilica of the Annunciation. After that, you’ll proceed to the famous Sea of Galilee and the Church of the Multiplication. Stopping in Capernaum, you’ll see the ancient synagogue, before proceeding to the lovely Jordan River. A truly enriching day.

Masada and Dead Sea Day Tour

Take another ride through the Judean desert, but this time to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth, almost 1300 feet (400 meters) below sea level. You can make a stop at Qumran and visit the Caves where the Dead Sea scrolls were found. Drive along the shores of the Dead Sea to Masada, where you’ll take the cable car, which will not only ensure an awe-inspiring view, but will take you to the ancient fortress built by King Herod to see the remains of the walls, water cistern, and Herod’s Palace. Then, descend by cable car to the Dead Sea. It’s a fun, educational, therapeutic, and unique place. If the weather is nice, you can cover yourself with the mineral-rich mud and take a swim, or float, in the Dead Sea.

Mediterranean Coast Day Tour

Yet another fun-filled day awaits with this lovely, relaxing drive along the coastal road. First, you’ll see Caesarea, the ancient Roman capital and port, and walk through the brilliant theatre and the archaeological ruins, seeing the excavations and, through them, the area’s history. You’ll take another drive to Haifa. There, you’ll be greeted by a spectacular scenic view of the city, the Port, and the Baha’i Gardens and the Shrine of the Báb. Next stop – Rosh Hanikra. You’ll take the cable car down into the marvelous underwater grottoes and witness the remarkable natural formation firsthand. The last stop is Acre, where you’ll walk through the Old City and the market, see the White Mosque and the old port, and visit the remarkable underground Crusader City.

Petra Day Tour

You feel like going a bit further, across the border even, and visiting a nearby world-famous geological, archeological, and anthropological wonder? Then the beautiful Petra it is! To get there, you’ll transfer from Eilat to the Arava Border, cross the border into Jordan, and enter the Rose Red City. The breath-taking walk through the desert antiquity and through the narrow define will take you to the astounding rock-cut city of Petra, the Siq, built over 2 millennia ago by the Nabateans. There you’ll find the Treasury (Al-Khazneh) and the Theater. After that, visit the Qasr El-Bint, the High Place of Sacrifice, and the Monastery (El Deir). This day is an experience definitely worth having.
