Spring has SPRUNG in Israel!

The spring in Israel is spectacularly beautiful. While Israel is gorgeous all year round, spring is one of our favorite times to tour the beautiful country! The hills and mountains in the Golan and Galilee in the North of Israel become vibrant green and wild flowers begin to fill open fields with vibrant and unexpected pops of color. The temperature during the day is comfortable throughout the country, usually in the 60’s or low 70’s. The nights are pleasant and even possibly a little chilly, depending on where in the country you are.

When the winter rains end, Israel’s North transforms into a lush landscape brimming with vivacious and almost startling color. The further north you go, the more likely you are to catch a glimpse of a snow-capped Mt. Hermon.

People come to Israel from all over the world to visit Mount Gilboa in the Jezreel Valley to see the Irus Ha-Gilboa, a purple iris and to the field in and around Karmiel to see anemone flowers.

Spring in Israel is truly a time of renewal. Starting around Tu B’shevat, or “Rosh HaShanah La’Ilanot”– the New Year for the Trees; spring comes into Israel like a lion, filling the countryside of Israel with visible signs of new life. On Tu B’shevat people all throughout Israel go out and fill the countryside to plant trees and spend time in enjoying nature.

The Jewish holiday of Purim occurs later on in the spring. Purim is a holiday commemorating the safe deliverance of the Jewish people in Ancient Persian Empire from a plan to destroy them. Purim is a day of feasting and celebration for Jews all around the world—but celebrating this holiday in Israel is truly a once in a lifetime experience.

Israel is also an incredible time for bird watching. Nearly 500 million birds will pass through Lake Hula in the Hula Valley of Israel during their bi-annual migration. The peak of the spring migration is from the beginning of March to the middle of May. A whopping total of 283 different kinds of birds pass over Israel, but during the spring is the best time to spot the common Whitethroat and Great Spotted Cuckoo flying overhead on their way north.
