Iris Hami

Iris Hami, President and CEO of The Gil Travel Group has spent the last 50 years traveling the world.  With a BA in Psychology and an MBA in marketing, she chose the travel business as her way of enriching herself and those around her.

Iris’s passion has always been to infuse travel with Jewish History.  When the time came to branch out from sending clients mainly to Israel to sending clients to experience the Jewish world, she was in her milieux. Iris understands how important it is to inspect every destination she and her team sell, particularly to their organizational clients.   “You will never know enough about a new destination unless you spend time there, meeting the locals, tasting their foods, listening to their music and walking their streets.”   To present the full story, one needs to study our Jewish History, the way it has evolved and how today’s Jewish communities flourish or suffer during present times.  This is why Gil Travel offers virtual experiences both for those who cannot travel yet, and as an addition to those who are going to travel to a new community.

Travel is a partnership.  It is a partnership with the client but also with the suppliers abroad.  Iris and her team have spent years building partnerships with those who can provide not only the most competitive pricing and efficient logistics but also an entry to new places whether hotels, sights, restaurants and of course the local community. Meeting with community leaders both Jewish and non and hearing first hand about their lives is essential in creating a holistic program for her clients.  It takes a village to create the perfect trip and Iris trusts her team and her partners abroad to do just that.
